tips to control corn earworms

The Corn earworm or Tomato Fruitworm is yellow-green, brown, or pinkish in color with light stripes on their sides and back. These little yellow headed monsters are capable of growing up to two inches in length. On corn they attack the tassels and ears, causing damage to the fruit and problems with pollination when they eat on the silk. It is a common site to shuck an ear of corn, finding the worm eating away at the tip of the corn. They also can also damage corn leaves before the plant has a chance to mature. On tomatoes the worm feeds on the leaves before eating into the green fruit. The corn earworm can also be found doing similar damage on a wide variety of plants.
To control the pest use Sevin or Thiodan insecticides in liquid or dust forms; or dust with Diazinon. To control organically use Bacillus thuringiensis on corn and rotenone on tomato plants.
interesting idea

While I am roaming around the web visiting some of my fellow bloggers and dropping some EC love, I came across this mommy blog. What is interesting about it? Well, her recent article talks about her decision in putting her child in a daycare and the odd questions she has to answer. I am no longer sure of what is the exact question that made her answer that she no longer wants to live in the US, but rather wants to transfer to Scotland.
I’ve heard about Scotland before in my geography class. But, that was almost 10 years ago. I kept on saying that I like to go on vacation whatever part of the world as long as I find it interesting. Why not go to Scotland? Of course if ever I pursue this place, I will rent holiday cottages. It gives first-hand experience on the ancient cultural heritage of the country.
I am also asking myself as to why would I choose holiday cottages scotland? Well, I researched the answer a long time ago. One of the many reasons for staying in holiday rentals is that it offers exceptional value for money and are one of the most cost effective solutions for the holiday. It is actually much cheaper as compared to traditional hotels. Plus, no hotel staff will come knocking the door. And unlike traditional packages, I can tailor my own itinerary that is just right for me.
Plus, Scotland is a big place rich in history and raw natural beauty. Exploring breathtaking landscapes, stretches from coast to coast and throughout several islands scattered around the mainland, requires no restrictive check in times. That is one of the many reasons for choosing Devon cottages. I forget to say that holiday rentals not only give a room to sleep, but a bigger space for the entire family.
I am already fascinated to this country. Well, that is just it. I hope that I will find my way to this place in the future.
lucky they are!

Few weeks ago or about a month from now, we finally had our cable connection. It’s not like the number of channels Direct TV has to offer, but we can’t do anything about it. It is the only cable company that grants us connection and needless to say that we don’t have this kind of company in our country.
I feel that people in the US are so lucky to have plenty of channels. I have read that Direct TV Satellite offers more than 50 to over 250 channels. It sounds terrific for a single television. The line up includes the best sports programs available, movies, children’s programs, local and national programs, news, weather, and much more.
It might sound very early, but as wiffy and I converse regarding our plans to go to the US we tackle the kind of service we would want. Well, Directv Satellite is one of the choices. We still do not know if there are other companies that offer the same kind of service. Of course, this company is the first in our list.
As for now, we have to be contented with our 30 channels. It’s better than having only four local channels. In fairness to our cable provider, they have been giving us good programming at an affordable rate. Although the numbers of channels are small, almost all are premium programming. That is why we are still happy about it.
Tiger Woods at Barclays event

According to the news, Tiger Woods moved into contention at The Barclays at Liberty National in New Jersey with a third-round 67 on Saturday. The American improved on his first two rounds of 72 and 70 to move to within five shots of compatriots Paul Goydos and Steve Marino at the top of the leaderboard. Consecutive birdies at the fifth, sixth and seventh holes set Woods up for an impressive round, and although he dropped a shot at the par-four 10th, two more birdies moved him onto four under for the tournament.
While Marino claimed he would not look over his shoulder for Woods, he told the official PGA Tour Web site. “You know, I’m sure he’s probably going to play pretty well tomorrow. He always seems to play well on Sundays. But I can’t control what he does. I can only control what I do and I feel like if I play well, being five ahead of him, I shouldn’t really have to worry about him.” Marino added.
Poulter also had to make do with a 70, ending his round in disappointing fashion with bogeys on the 16th and 18th, although he did birdie the 17th. Americans Zach Johnson and Matt Kuchar were the other two players on four-under.
smart spending

Life today has never been so difficult. Most of us have to do budgeting due to the scarcity of funds. To save us from the rainy days we should start reading articles like How You Can Start Spending Smart. Of course, smart spending puts us in good financial standing regardless of how much we earn.
Life’s difficulty should not stop us from enjoying fashion. It is all about spending right on the right product. My favorite high fashion eyeglasses cost around $250 to $300. That is a huge amount of money especially for me. I am earning less than that amount per day. But, luckily I can still be fashionable without breaking my wallet by purchasing $ 8 Rx eyeglasses at Zenni. With $250 I can get as many as 30 fashionable eyeglasses. Hahaha! So, I can choose whatever that fits my outfit. I will not do that of course. Two to three pieces are enough for me.
