conversation with my friend
Yesterday, I got a chance to talk to my friend who recently change career, I mean company. He was pirated from another bank who offered him a rather higher position than that of his previous employer. Luckily he made it through several examinations and interviews. And his venture is a success. This is our topic for the rest of our talk time.
According to him, his new office looked so perfect. The paints are still good; all lights are in good working condition and so on. However, one thing he noticed that doesn’t look so well is the old exit signs. Upon checking he discovered that it’s no longer functioning and must be replaced the soonest. He clearly understands the importance of having good working EXIT SIGNS in a public place especially if it is a big place.
He doesn’t want to project that he wants to impress his big boss. He just wants to do his job right at the beginning. Besides, it is his duty to protect his clients and employees in the event of emergency. Since he is the manager of the branch, everything inside the branch is his responsibility. And changing a defective Exit Sign is an immediate thing to do. Like he said, no one will know when emergency strikes. He will not wait when it happens before he does something about it.
The problem he faces now is the cost. Changing it will of course cost his branch. He doesn’t know if it will create substantial impact on his accounts. He is also confused what kind of signs to choose. Maybe this is the same problem the previous manager faced, the very reason he left it like that.
Well, in my mind it’s really difficult to manage everything. But, I know my friend can handle this simple thing. I told him he doesn’t have to worry about it so much, there are more difficult things he will face in the future.
