Eagle Revenge!
The eagle had prove it’s worth, now United States thrashed Greece 92-69 last Thursday to gain some measure of revenge over the only team to beat them since the 2004 Athens Olympics. Kobe Bryant and Chris Bosh each scored 18 points, with Dwayne Wade and LeBron James posting 17 and 13 respectively. They were trying to reclaim the global throne after third place in both Athens and the 2006 World Championship in Japan dominated the match defensively.
At the first meeting since the Greeks upset the US 101-95 in the semi-finals of the 2006 World Championship, the American stars pulled away for good in the second quarter after a close first. Greece had no answer to the superior speed that the American NBA stars used to set up spectacular slam dunks, or to their defensive tightness. The Eagle remain unbeaten after three games in preliminary round Group B and now face a showdown on Saturday against world champions Spain, who are also unbeaten. That match is likely to decide which team claims a top quarter-final seed.
